SMILES SPOTLIGHT in the Assessment Clinical and radiographic assessment revealed numerous teeth with previous dental treatment, partial-edentulism, failing dental restorations and teeth with active infection. In discussing all treatment options, the patient indicated that she was not interested in any type of removable restoration. The patient also indicated frustration with years of dental treatment resulting in continued failure of dental restorations and teeth. As a result, she was not interested in attempting to retreat/rehabilitate her existing dentition. The patient did some independent research and indicated that she would be interested in the “All-on-Four” (AO4) treatment. Evaluation of the CBCT Scan confirmed that the patient was a good candidate for the AO4 treatment. LEADERS IN NORTH TEXAS DENTISTRY CREATING UNFORGETTABLE SMILES A Straumann All-on-4 Treatment The Patient Our patient, a 52-year old female, presented to our office for a consultation. She was unhappy with the appearance of her smile and wanted “healthy teeth”. Her primary concern was the continuous, slow, selfextrusion of tooth #8, the result of a childhood injury. Pre-op 14 NORTH TEXAS DENTISTRY | www.northtexasdentistry.com Treatment After tooth removal and bone modification, five Straumann 4.1mm x 12mm Roxolid implants were placed in the maxilla and four 4.1mm x 14mm implants were placed in the mandible for this patient. All torque values exceeded 35Ncm. Roxolid implants by Straumann are the first dental implants made of an alloy of titanium and zirconium. Preliminary data shows that these implants are 50% stronger that pure titanium alone. Preclinical data on the Roxolid (at 4 weeks) also show higher torque removal values, and more bone in-growth than the standard titanium surface alone. SRA abutments were placed and impressions were made to indirectly process the prostheses in the laboratory and allow for same day delivery.
