That’s not always easy when you know that fish are piled up in the middle of a run and you just want to hit the sexy water with your next long cast. But, if you do just that—lift and cast too soon—the gurus will say you’re making a mistake. That’s because steelhead often follow a fly all the way to the bank before taking.
