We picked up Mark, another from
the Korkers’ team and headed east to
Maupin. Mark was a fishing guide from
Wyoming before moving to Portland,
and still has an operation going there.
He does customer service and also reps
the California accounts for Korkers. I’ll
be keeping in touch with him, a very
knowledgeable dude, and if you call in
to Korkers and get Mark, you can just
know he’s legit and actually knows
exactly what he’s talking about.
I walked down to the Ace Hardware
and got my 2 day out of state, and then
joined the guys at the Deschutes Angler
Fly Shop. Deschutes Angler is owned by
John and Amy Hazel, in my world, they
are legendary. The shop is impressive,
I always wonder why fly shops don’t
carry fly tying material, which is one of
the things we try to be very good at, and
I will say that their fly tying selection is
one of the better ones I’ve seen for a long
time. If you’ve seen the movie, “Drift”, by
Confluence Films you understand what
“Cocktail Hour” at the Deschutes Angler
means, and I was there, and as normal
of thing as it was to everyone else there,
I thought it was pretty darn cool.
Amy Hazel was leading the shop that
day, and at 5 O’clock we were in the back
office mixing end of day conversations.

bear cape, which is a very rare find
