Que veut dire FIAT ?
FIAT est l’acronyme de Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino. En s’essayant à une
traduction, cela reviendrait à « Fabrique Italienne d’Automobiles de Turin ».
C’est aussi un jeu de mot qui veut dire en latin : « que cela soit ! ». Comme si, naturellement,
il fallait que FIAT existât d’une façon ou d’une autre.
Quelle est la première
voiture FIAT ? C’est la 3 ½ HP, une voiturette qui atteint les 31km/h. Elle est présentée en 1899. Fiat est
donc une entreprise centenaire.
Qu’en est-il de la FIAT 500 ? C’est en 1933 que le sénateur Giovanni Agnelli formule l’idée d’une voiture de petite
taille et bon marché, proposable au prix de 5000 lires. Celle-ci voit le jour en juin 1936 :
c’est la FIAT 500A "Topolino".
En 1957 est présentée la FIAT Nuova 500. Le projet est de séduire une population qui
préfère l’utilisation de motocyclettes et de micro–voitures car moins chères.
En 2007, FIAT signe, avec succès, le retour néo-rétro du modèle.

Curiously, it ends being also a latin play of words that means : "So be it ! ". As if, FIAT had
to exist in a way or another.

What about the FIAT 500
model ? In year 1933, Senator Giovanni Agnelli has the idea of a small inexpensive car that could
be bought for 5000 lire. FIAT 500A "Topolino" is shown to the public in June 1937. Years
later, in 1957, the FIAT Nuova 500 model is launched, aiming to seduce a population
that prefers cheap motorcycles and micro – cars. More recently, in 2007, FIAT made a
succesfull neo-retro come-back of the model.
