Comment W.O. a-t-il créé
l'entreprise ? Avant la première guerre mondiale, W.O. est vendeur de voitures DFP (Doriot, Flandrin
& Parant) dans le nord de Londres. Pendant qu’il passe à l'usine, il a une idée brillante,
celle d'utiliser l'aluminium pour fabriquer des moteurs avec des pistons plus légers. C'est
en 1916, en partenariat avec des industriels intéressés, que le premier prototype de
moteur est terminé. Il en est de même pour le deuxième moteur en 1918. C'est à partir
de cette base qu'il fonde l'entreprise un an plus tard. Cette même année, la première
voiture Bentley est fabriquée avec le moteur 3.0 litres.
Qui sont les Bentley Boys/
Bentley Girls ? Dans les années 1920, tous ceux qui veulent conduire des véhicules capables de ga-
gner les courses rêvent des Bentley. Cependant, les Bentley bien préparées sont coû-
teuses. Ainsi, peu de gens peuvent se les offrir et seulement quelques britanniques
riches et passionnés possèdent ces véhicules. Ils remportent de nombreuses victoires
à leur volant. Ce groupe de pilotes est alors respectueusement appelé "Bentley Boys".
Parmi eux, Tim Birkin et Woolf Barnato. Ce dernier remporte de nombreux succès en
course, dont les 24 Heures du Mans. En 1925, il devient l'actionnaire principal et prési-
dent de Bentley, après avoir acheté une quantité importante d'actions de la société
pour éviter sa faillite.

to every petrolhead. He founds the company on 10 July 1919.

How W.O. started the
company ? Before WWI, W.O. is a DFP (Doriot, Flandrin & Parant) car seller in North London. While
in the car factory, he has a brilliant idea of using aluminium to fabricate lighter engine
pistons. In partnership with interested industrialists, it is in 1916 when the first engine
prototype is finished. So is the second engine in 1918. From that base, he founds the
company a year later. In that same year, the first car is made fitting the 3.0 L engine.
Who are the Bentley Boys/
Bentley Girls ? In the 1920s, anyone who wants to drive vehicles capable of winning dreams of the
Bentley models. However, the elaborate Bentleys are costly, and only few people are
able to afford them. Only some rich British enthusiasts own the cars and achieve
numerous victories in the sign of the flying B. This group of drivers are respectfully
called Bentley Boys. Among them are Tim Birkin and Woolf Barnato. The latter has a
number of racing successes, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1925, he becomes
the Bentley principal shareholder and chairman after he bought a great number of the
company shares to avert its bankruptcy.
