"ART WILL ALWAYS BE MY MAIN FOCUS AND MY MAIN EXPRESSION OF MYSELF"

HOW ARE YOU FINDING IT DEALING WITH SIXTH FORM AND ART AS A SUBJECT AND YOUR OWN PERSONAL OCCUPATION??

"Yeah, being eighteen is kinda hard as you have so much going on. I'm working a part time job, and like you said, I've got sixth form and I'm trying to produce the art career and get far with that also. So it's really stressful but it's all about finding the balance with dealing with it all. I try to dedicate as much time to art because that's my main focus but I still dedicate time to sixth form and put my effort into my part time job too. But I don't see them as being my be all and end all – art is the one thing I definitely want to do. So I try to put as much focus and energy into art and I hope that one day it will all pay off."

OW DO YOU FEL YOUR SUBJECT WILL CHANGE IN THE FUTURE?

"Hmm hat's the thing, I don't really see myself having like a set group of people or subject that I'll be focusing on. Right now it's celebrities and famous people because they are the people that inspire me the most but I feel like whoever inspires me, doesn't matter what level they're on, doesn't matter whether they're famous or just a person on the street, it doesn't matter who it is, I feel like my subject will keep expanding and I'll keep focusing on and making artwork that represents what inspires me at that time. That can change as I grow as a person and as I move through life, so I wouldn't limit myself to just drawing people or celebrities – I feel like it can move onto anything.."

SO WHERE DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE WILL BE IN RELATION TO YOURSELF AND YOUR WORK??

"I just see it being a maximisation of what I already do. So, with the t-shirts and the prints I've got going, I just see myself doing that but on a wider scale and a bigger audience. Just more of what I'm already doing pretty much. I don't really see much changing because this is pretty much the genesis of what I'm doing and I feel like from then on it'll just expand and grow bigger and bigger, that's my plan, yeah."

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

"I am working on a commission piece of art for a room. It is comic themed so having fun coating a huge white wall with lots of heroes and villains in action, it’s one of my most colourful and free briefs I’ve worked on so I’m enjoying these few days I’m working on it."

HAVE YOU ALWAYS KNOWN YOU WANTED TO BE AN ILLUSTRATOR?

"Not necessarily. I’ve been creative from the moment I could pick up a pencil – always scribbling away in sketchbooks and on any pieces of paper I could find, but during the last 5 years I’ve experimented with lots of different paths before getting to where I am now. For a while I was dedicated to being a Fine Artist, before coming to university and then choosing Illustration. I feel I’ve definitely settled in this."
