ARMENIA TODAY
Armenia is a diverse country with regards to its climatic zones that differ from North to South,
between East and West. Most of the country lies at a high altitude with mountains occupying 80% of
the area as seen in the Relief map. The Central part is arid and dry as seen in the Climate and Geology
maps below. The country has many rivers running through it with Lake Sevan, the largest fresh-water
high altitude lake in Eurasia, occupying a large central part. This mapping has informed the proposed
regional demarcations and representations within the Ethnographic District.
