ARMENIA TODAY
Armenia lies within Asia Minor region with Georgia, Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan as its neighbours.
The Caspian sea to the East and the Black Sea to the West are geographical landmarks very
close to Armenia. Within 5 hours reach of Paris and 2-3 hours to Moscow, Beirut, Dubai and
Tehran, it is very well placed to attract tourists seeking new geographies to explore. Armenia is
also part of old tourism and trade trails such as the silk road connecting Tehran to Tbilisi. New
tourism trails such as the Roman, Christian monuments and nature trails could be encouraged
further by creating awareness on Armenia’s tourism offer. There are several urban cities and
historic destinations that are worth visiting en-route one of these trails ( as shown on the diagram
on opposite page ). Interventions such as the NOAH Ethnographic District will provide the
necessary momentum to help this process and encourage tourism within Armenia.
