NOAH_Ethnographic District Landscape Various public open spaces are provided within the Ethnographic District. The arrival plazas to the North and South and the Tolerance Square are the main public squares within the development. Two large parks are provided , one at the North entrance, another as a backdrop to the amphitheatre which is located in a strategic area offering majestic views to the development below and Mount Ararat. The memory of Dalma Orchard is evoked by a new orchard created at the second South entrance with a water feature for recreation purposes. Two main pedestrian spines connect these various squares and parks. Smaller, intimate lanes and streets connect to a Square which is an inviting access to and from Dalma Mall. All blocks are organized with landscaped courtyards in North region and open terraces in South region. Vineyards and allotments are proposed to showcase local produce. AECOM Urban Form The urban form of the Ethnographic District, is a reflection of the landscape and morphology of the various regions of Armenia. The central region is represented with cultural and religious buildings that are monumental in scale, these front the Tolerance Square, following the tradition of Republic Square and Freedom Square in Yerevan. Other monuments are a tribute to the monasteries, re-created but serving a new function, located towards the East edge of the site overlooking the orchard and the lake. Clues are taken from the fabric of the ancient and existing cities of the North such as Ani and Gyumri with the creation of courtyards to represent this region. Similarly, the South region is a reflection of the terrain with terraces and horizontality and scale of the built form in cities like Meghri and Goris. The North and South edges of the District respond to the Yerevan city context. 39
