NOAH_Ethnographic District
Masterplan
Access & Movement
The site is accessed in the North from the Tsitsernakaberd Highway that
connects to the Yerevan city centre. A gateway is created in this location with
a welcoming plaza, an interpretation centre as a landmark building. Access is
also provided through Dalma mall ,where the basement and servicing facilities
are located. The main entrance to the Ethnographic district is on the South
edge, with an Arrival Plaza fronted by Kashgars. A multi-storey car-park and
basement parking is available in this area. The residents can access their
parking from this side as well, with a dedicated entrance and exit for them.
South edge accommodates another public entrance further South to the
Orchard Park and Ark restaurant. The access strategy is organized such as
the development is completed car-free, to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace whilst
walking.

Urban Structure
A distinct and legible structure which helps navigate to and within the
development is envisioned with a hierarchy of places and spaces. Three
gateways , as illustrated in the diagram below open up into arrival plazas,
all with different characters focussing on showcasing a certain aspect of
Armenia. The North plaza is a sculpture court dedicated to the Diaspora, the
South West gateway is the arrival plaza fronted with Kashgars and the South
gateway is an entrance to the Orchard and the Lake. Two key pedestrian
spines, dotted with active frontages and landmark buildings connect all the
three plazas together. The Tolerance Square sits at the convergence of the two
spines, fronted with cultural and religious buildings. Another plaza which also
serves as a market connects with the Dalma Mall. Landmark buildings capture
vistas from the access roads.
