NOAH_Ethnographic District
Site Context
The site for NOAH Ethnographic district is located to the West of
Yerevan city centre. The Monte Melkonian Avenue connects the site
to M5 which is the key connection between the Zvartnots International
Airport and Yerevan. The Athens Street via Victory Bridge across
Hrazdan river, connects the North side of the site to Yerevan. The site
is thus accessible from two sides, North and South.
The 15 Ha site sits within green surroundings with prominent
landmarks and destinations close-by, such as the Armenian Genocide
Museum, Hradzan Stadium and the Karen Demirtchian Sports/
Concert Complex. The site is within the historic Dalma orchard, part of
which is occupied by the Dalma Mall, a very popular destination for the
locals. Mount Ararat is visible from many locations within the site, this
is an opportunity to plan the site to open up this majestic view.
Relationship with
Yerevan City centre
The zoning on site has been done considering the North-Easterly
wind and the sun path. Chaneling the wind in the summer months and
allowing the South sun to shine through in the winter months is a key
criteria in planning the main spines within the development.
