A composite Image is a picture that is made from the combination of multiple images merged
into a single surface. Sometimes photographers utilize compositing to enhance a photograph,
like swapping the sky from clear and cloudless, to one with a more dramatic appeal. Other
times, photographers take multiple images and combine them in such a way as to create a
situation or an environment that never existed.
Compositing is a true art form and requires extensive training and practice to produce an end
product that “appears” to be real. One of my favorite compositors, Joel Grimes, calls it, “selling
the fake”.
The pictures in this feature will all be “constructed” creations from some of the country’s finest
artisans. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. If you are a compositor, and would like to have
your work displayed in this feature, please submit it for consideration.
