FROM THE EDITOR... Dave Stabley Editor / Publisher TEENS IN OUR MIDST W elcome to the July issue of NM CliQ Magazine. This edition will be a little different from the previous three in that, we will focus exclusively on TEENS who are attempting to create a presence in the world of modeling. The lure of posing for glamorous magazine covers, wearing haute couture fashions, strutting the runways of international fashion events, and being the subject of public adulation is incredibly tantalizing! Getting there however, is VERY difficult. Let me just say that shooting a few selfies, or having a friend take some cell phone pix of you, and posting them on a Facebook page that says you are now a model, does NOT make you a “real” model. No matter how good looking you may be, there is a lot more to it than that! Professional modeling is an extremely difficult industry to break in to at any age...and even more so as a teenager. Great looks are only the starting point - sort of a minimum requirement for entry. Then, as with any other professional career choice, modeling requires specialized training, skills, and practice to achieve any reasonable level of competency. The teens presented in this issue are making that effort. Most are at the very beginning of a long, hard road, but they are doing it the right way: they are networking with local photographers, meeting other models, and doing collaborative shoots to gain some skills and insights. Now, in addition to all that, they are PUBLISHED. To the TEENS who are making this journey, I say, “Give it the very best effort you can, and strive to achieve the loftiest goals you can envision for yourself. Remember, whether you believe you can, or you believe you can’t, either way, you are correct.” Thanks. Till next month, Editor / Publisher 6 NM CliQ Magazine | July 2015
