NJ State PBA lends support for
fallen offi cer in Florence
The grief-stricken officers of Florence
Police Department in South Carolina
wore black bands over their badges as
they flooded the Florence Civic Center
on Oct. 8 to pay their respects to Sergeant
Terrence Carraway, who was shot and
killed in an ambush on Oct. 3.
Hundreds of officers, family members
and friends attended the funeral service
to honor the 30-year veteran of Florence
Police Department, who was described as
a leader, mentor and friend to so many.
Crowds also gathered around Carraway’s
patrol car, which was covered with flow-
ers, balloons and many other sentimental
items in memory of the fallen hero.
Members of the NJ State PBA made sure
that the city of Florence knew that New
Jersey had its back, with several mem-
bers bringing the Special Services trailer
to South Carolina for Carraway’s funeral.
The Florence Police Department patch
was added to the wall within the NJSPBA
trailer that marks all the places the PBA
has traveled to honor those who have
NJSPBA members, from left, George Schultz,
Manny Corte, Kevin Lyons, John Hulse, Florence

bers Michael Pellegrino and Pat Moran.
made the ultimate sacrifice.

the union’s response in Florence. Health
Benefits Coordinator Kevin Lyons, mem-
bers George Schultz and Manny Corte and
