CSE training cyber cops
Earning a certificate in Cyber Security training is the perfect educational pursuit for the officer interested in a career
investigating cyber crime, and this fall, the College of Saint
Elizabeth is the place to get this education.
Dr. James Ford, coordinator of the Master’s in Justice
Administration and Public Service, said credits earned in
the certificate program will be able to be applied toward a
Bachelors degree of computer science for potential students.
“We have been seeing more interest from police officers
in the field of cybercrime,” said Ford, a 26-year veteran
police officer and retired Chatham Township lieutenant.
“Students are interested in pursuing this program because
of crimes like identity theft and their interest in working to
prevent it.”
Beginning this fall, the College of Saint Elizabeth will be
offering a certificate program in Cyber Security and is
aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills
needed for employment in the computer security or related fields.
“Laws are always changing and this
program can give officers real life
cases to solve in the classroom, which is
similar to what they’re doing in the field.”

The college will also change the name of the Justice Studies program to Criminal Justice, which reflects the predominant focus of the program. Ford said the Master's
program in Justice Administration and Public Service
remains the same, and a seven-week accelerated format
will also be offered.
The courses in the Master’s program are not offered
