Two deserving sergeant promotions
in Sussex County Local 138
Sussex County Local 138 recently announced the promo-
tions of two members serving in the Sussex County Sheriff’s
Office. Detective Kieran McMorrow and Detective William
Ficacci were both promoted to the rank of sergeant for their
long-serving commitment and success within Local 138.
Kieran McMorrow began his law enforcement career in
2000, when he was hired as a corrections officer by the Sus-
sex County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections. Throughout
his career, McMorrow was assigned to several different units,
including the Courthouse Security and Prisoner Transpor-
tation Unit, the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics
Task Force, the Sheriff’s Community Policing Unit, the Sussex
County Hazardous Materials Team (HAZMAT) and the Sher-
iff’s K-9 Unit. McMorrow has been the recipient of the Sheriff’s
Good Conduct Medal, the Educational Achievement Award,
the Sheriff’s Achievement Award and the Sussex County De-
tective’s Association Meritorious Service Award, in addition
to earning numerous accolades from other law enforcement
agencies and civic groups. Following his promotion, McMor-
row has been assigned to supervise sheriff’s officers serving in
the Courthouse Security and Prisoner Transportation Unit.
William Ficacci was promoted to detective sergeant af-
ter being deployed to Iraq through the United States Marine
Corps in 2003 and beginning his law enforcement career in
2005, when he was hired as a corrections officer by the Federal
Bureau of Prisons. In 2006, he accepted a position as a sheriff’s
officer in the Bureau of Law Enforcement and was assigned

to the Courthouse Security and Prisoner Transportation Unit.
In 2013, he was promoted to detective and transferred to the
Sheriff’s Detective Bureau, where he was assigned to fugitive
recovery duties. Throughout his career, Sergeant Ficacci has
also served as a team member of the Sheriff’s Tactical Re-
sponse Unit, supervised the Sheriff’s Internship Program and
conducted numerous criminal investigations. Following this
promotion, Ficacci has been assigned to supervise detectives
serving in the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau. d
New police chief takes the oath
of office for Linden Local 42
Families, friends, elected officials and officers from across
the state packed the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center on
Jan. 10 to celebrate the promotion of David Hart to police chief
of Linden Local 42. The 30-year veteran of the force became
Local 42’s 11th police chief. Also promoted at the ceremony were Don Geisheimer and
Abdul Williams to the rank of captain; Danny Tristao, Vincen-
zo Wegrzynek and Ivan Ordonez to the rank of lieutenant; and
Andrew Perrella, Ian Conk and Nicole Melchionna to the rank
of sergeant. d
