honors new police chief
Lodi Local 26 celebrates
eight promotions
On Aug. 1, Lieutenant Ahmed Naga was promoted to police chief
of Long Hill Township Local 322. Chief Naga began his service to
Long Hill Township in 2003, when he was hired as a patrol officer.
Over the years Chief Naga has served in a number of capacities
within the department, including detective, sergeant, detective ser-
geant, lieutenant and now chief.
Chief Naga’s promotion likely makes him the first Muslim chief
of police in New Jersey history. “I think this is living proof that if you
work hard, you can achieve your goals regardless of personal choic-
es or the labels that people put on you,” Chief Naga stated.
Additional promotions include Lieutenant Alexis Ciambriello,
who was appointed lieutenant in February, and Lieutenant James
Marczewski, who was appointed acting lieutenant in June. d
On May 16, Lodi Local 26 promoted eight of its members.
Mayor Emil Carafa Jr., Borough Manager Vincent Caruso and
Chief Donald Scorzetti were present in the council chambers to
swear in new members of the department, in addition to pro-
moting several of its existing officers.

Lodi Local 26 promotes
two members to sergeant
On July 1, Lodi Local 26 promoted Officers James Thompson
and Christopher Irizarry to the rank of sergeant. The officers
were sworn in by Mayor Emil Carafa Jr., Chief Donald Scorzetti
and Deputy Chief Louis Franco. d
