In Memoriam Officer Adam Edward Jobbers-Miller Fort Myers , Florida Police Department
EOW : July 28 , 2018
On July 21 , Fort Myers , Florida Officer Adam Edward Jobbers-Miller responded to an assault and larceny call at a local gas station , at which point he encountered an armed suspect . A foot pursuit ensued , during which Jobbers-Miller was shot in the head . He spent the next week in the hospital before succumbing to his wounds on July 28 .
Stories at his funeral described the threeyear veteran as someone with an “ extreme heavy metal rock star voice when barking orders ,” someone who sang in his car and someone who had “ a warrior mindset .”
And while Jobbers-Miller ’ s passing was felt deeply in his Florida community , the loss also extended to the 29-year-old ’ s original hometown : Wayne , New Jersey .
A graduate of Wayne Valley High School , Jobbers-Miller was an avid member of the wrestling team .
“ Adam comes from a wonderful family , who has done so much for Wayne Valley wrestling and the entire community for many years ,” emphasized Todd Schroeder , Jobbers-Miller ’ s former wrestling coach .
Outside of school , Jobbers-Miller followed in his dad ’ s footsteps and joined the township ’ s P . O . L . Fire Company 2 .
The New Jersey State PBA considered Jobbers-Miller one of their own and responded accordingly . First Vice President Pete Andreyev , Bergen County Sheriffs Department Local 134 State Delegate Andy Pacucci and PBA Special Project Coordinator John Hulse loaded up the PBA Special Services Trailer and traveled to Fort Meyers to provide support for the Jobbers-Miller family and officers from across the country who came for the visitation and the funeral .
“ When I first observed the NJ State PBA trailer , it became very emotional that my brothers and sisters from my home state saw fit to respond to the state of Florida ,” said Mick McHale , the president of the National Association of Police Organizations , who is also president of the Southwest Florida chapter of the Florida PBA and a Jersey City native .
“ They not only showed their support for a former NJ resident but , more importantly , to show the bond that exists throughout our nation ,” McHale continued . “ I have contacted both ( President ) Pat ( Colligan ) and ( Executive Vice President ) Marc ( Kovar ) on multiple occasions to express to them the gratitude of the Jobbers-Miller family and his extended family for the way the NJ State PBA responded . I observed
numerous officers , not only from the state of Florida but from all over the nation , stop and give thanks to our brothers from New Jersey who had responded in kind .”
