Nurse-Family Partnership NewsLink Summer 2017 | Page 6

In June, NFP families, nurse home visitors and nurse supervisors from California, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin traveled to Washington, D.C. to share their experiences with legislators and to make the case for their continued support. NFP family Alaska and Jimmy Martinez even got the chance to meet their Texas representatives, Rep. Lloyd Doggett and Rep. Joaquin Castro. Not surprisingly, a couple of NFP’s youngest advocates, Jaxx and Aisaya, were the stars with legislators and their staffers!

The trip was a part of the Parent Advocacy Program organized by

the National Home Visiting Coalition. The program also includes ongoing advocacy training for parent advocates to take their new skills back to their states and continue sharing their story and advocating locally.
