OMPHILE MERE—Being in a new school, Mafikeng High School
I was quite nervous on the first day at Mafikeng High School. All the Grade 8
learners were asked to sit on the floor facing the whole school in the hall. The
principal welcomed us and this
made me feel at home. The SRC
took us through the orientation
exercise. It was fun and interesting. We wrote our orientation
test – the pass mark is 50% and
above. I am glad to say I scored
100% which made De Meillon
House members proud.
I thank Master Lucian van
Rooyen who came to our rescue
when some senior boys wanted
to bully us; Mrs Motingoa who made us who made feel comfortable and at peace
in the school; to Mr van Graan who is a well-spoken Deputy Principal and to Mr
Landman (wise Principal) for saying peaceful and encouraging words to us especially, GANAS

Drama started on a high note with more than thirty
learners. We would try to do interesting activities to
uphold the high standard set already by obtaining top
positions in the previous years. I urge learners to keep
on presenting themselves for practices in order for us
to achieve our goal

lede. Ons gaan prober om ʹn hoë standard te handhaaf
soos in die verkde. Ons doen ʹn beroep op leer linge om
