2016, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism
(NKUHT) will be organizing its 3rd culinary week. This event will last for one week, with both ecofriendly, food and arts aspects. It will include distinguished chef demonstrations, alumnus
working experience sharing and themes exhibition from culinary department to present the
program highlights. Each daily activity will show the uniqueness of the culinary departments of the
school, and will be conducted by the NKUHT’s alumni and professional chefs. Activities will be open
to public and free for high school college students. Chao-Ching Yang, Dean of Culinary School, is in
charge of the event and will be pleased to invite and welcome Alliance members.
On the other hand, the event will also integrate the skills, innovations, creativity, culture, traditions from the 2015 Expo
Milano themes, especially applied to food and beverages. There will also be souvenirs and goods made by the students
themselves that visitors could easily purchase on campus. On the same week, there will be a gallery titled Man, Nature, and
Life promoting culinary education to reach the general public with its utmost value.
This event will invite all of Taiwan’s vocational college students, high school students, the general
public and special guests to come and join the activity. We hope that throughout this activity we
can lead the participating guests to know the student’s learning objectives and outcomes. Last year,
we enjoyed the participation of 3,000 enthusiastic individuals. This year, we hope to attract more
attendees who are interested in getting involved.
Informative Brunch at USFQ
th
On March 5 2016, the University San Francisco de Quito organized an informative brunch in order to
promote the essence of the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Tourism to High School Seniors, who
are interested in these specific majors. The main purpose was to involucrate their parents so they could
enrich themselves about the University methodology and about everything that complements it. On the
other hand, the participants had the opportunity to meet and greet professors. This experience helped them to understand
some techniques of basic cooking and managing events that the University implements in a daily basic.
It is important to mention that one of the basic goals was to show how students are involved and
committed in all the classes. Considering that the brunch was cooked by Culinary Arts School, it
was served by Hospitality students and some others were in charge of helping all the guests with
their questions. They also told them how is to live day by day in this field. We got the
participation of 150 people that hopefully will join Universidad San Francisco de Quito in fall 2017.
