UoP5e Progress Powertrain Following the design philosophy of the whole car, powertrain performance target figures will be achieved using a single electric motor over multiple, for manageable cost and complexity. Simplifying, lightweighting and increasing efficiency were the main focus of the team, aiming into saving around 15kg while increasing operating efficiency by almost 10%. So far, the control system has been designed and demo PCB’s have been manufactured and tested, while the build of the teams’ battery pack is programmed for the beginning of January. Aerodynamics Having in mind the feedback from the last successful season and the new regulations, a new aerodynamic package is being designed. Despite the more restraining regulations, the goal is to produce even more downforce than UoP4e, while increasing the aerodynamic efficiency and using simple to manufacture, lightweight aerodynamic devices. To achieve these goals, the aerodynamics team decided to go a step further by integrating an undertray for even more downforce. Research and testing iterations in StarCCM+ resulted in a 3-element front and rear wing and a highly efficient undertray, with the implementation of some rather unconventional solutions. Lab measurements and testing will follow within the next few months, so stay tuned to check the final result! UoP Racing Team | University of Patras | Rio, Patras 26500,
