UoP5e Progress Efficient design and use of resources is the new design ethos of the team; therefore simple, cost effective solutions will be utilized throughout the new car. Besides performance, design will be focused to significantly cut down manufacturing complexity, time and cost. Examples of the new ethos will be demonstrated in the immediate future as details regarding the design of the new car will emerge; until then, prepare yourselves for some big surprises! So far:     Concept is set according to UoP4e testing results and simulations Initial design is finished, design freeze set for January New design philosophy : Simple, Lightweight, efficient Many surprises to come over the next few months Chassis This year our team is designing something completely new! The new, innovative design of the chassis seems very promising so far. Following the new design philosophy of the team, ease and manufacturing efficiency is on high priority. Trying to meet target values for total vehicle weight, the chassis design has also focused in being lighter than the previous one. Integration of functions and subsystems aids towards that goal, while design and components placement also focused in lowering the overall car center of gravity. With the aid of our supporter Autonomics, the chassis team kept in mind anthropometric considerations and created a multi-adjustable mock up, aiming to create an even more comfortable driving position.
