UoP5e P A first taste of UoP5e As the design phase is now over, we are proud to present you the UoP5e! Following the foundations set with UoP4e, our newest family member will be electric. This does not mean it will be the same though; the team carefully analyzed the factors that could make UoP5e even faster and more efficient. In every aspect, the new car is an evolution of the previous, highly successful one. Weight will be reduced by 20%, leading in an overall figure below 200kg, while torque at wheels will be increased by 30% to reach 980Nm. Moreover, the aerodynamics team will present some highly innovative solutions; CFD simulations show almost double the downforce despite the restrictive new aero rules. Powertrain also worked hard to increase overall system efficiency, reducing energy consumption which in turn will allow a smaller, lighter battery pack. Besides operation efficiency, efficient use of resources is the new design ethos of the team; therefore simple and cost effective solutions will be utilized throughout the new car, while not compromising quality and performance. The center of this whole new approach is the (radical for the team) drop of the carbon fiber monocoque used thus far and the adoption of a new cut & fold monocoque chassis.
