Natural appeal The warmth of heart rimu meets the allure of hand-crafted design in this project by artisans RH Cabinetmakers Three things certain in this life are death, taxes ... and the timeless appeal of hand-crafted wood furniture or cabinets. Always choose the right timber for the job – but first find a skilled woodworking company to get everything right first time. This custom heart rimu ven eer kitchen and the adjacent pale rimu dividing screen were both crafted by RH Cabinetmakers after discussion with the client’s architect, says managing director Rob Hendrickx. “The design concept, by Lisa Webb of Studio LWA, was for a kitchen that mixed contemporary and classic elements – and a little bit of Art Deco to tie the design back to the house,” says Hendrickx. “This is a functional kitchen with clean, crisp lines, stainless steel surfaces and labour-saving Blum soft close drawers and hinges.” In aesthetic terms, the classic polished stainless steel bounces light around the room and offers an ideal contrast to the heart rimu surfaces. Another contrast comes from the black lacquered and teal sliding doors in the under- and over-counter cabinets. search | save | share at trendsideas.com For details, contact RH Cabinetmakers, Unit 3/33 Cunard St, New Lynn, phone (09) 826 3511, mobile (021) 618 008.
