Serene appeal This design by Templer Interiors has a refined, welcoming air – the finishes are by Resene Cabinetry styles, room layouts, fixtures all make a difference, but the right colours can really bring an interior design to life. For this project, by Susan Templer, the wife wanted an all white kitchen while the husband preferred some colour. “Taking cues from the clients’ colour choices in accessories and soft furnishings, I knew Resene Robin Egg Blue would be a winner for the dining room cabinetry,” says Templer. “It’s bright and fresh but subtle enough to enhance rather than compete with Resene Lustacryl in Resene Quarter Black White on the kitchen cabinets. And also it marries beautifully with the brown tile floors. “We painted the walls around the white kitchen cabinets the same colour as the dining room cabinetry. Looking through the dining room, the kitchen becomes the backdrop and the colours relate back to each other.” For the dining room walls SpaceCote Low Sheen Thorndon Cream is used as a transitional colour, a warmer tone than the stark white kitchen cabinetry and a good backdrop to art and collectibles. The ceilings are in Resene Ceiling Paint Black White while the skirting, architraves, and scotias are all finished in Resene Lustacryl Quarter Black White.
