Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church, was built by the Jesuit Fathers
in 1907, for the Italian and Spanish
speaking immigrants who worked in the
area coal mines. The Church served the
community until it was closed in 1998.
In 2007, after nearly a decade
of deterioration…..the music hall roof
had caved, “the building destroyed.” The
church was declared unsafe for human
occupancy. After 100 years of helping
the community, Mt. Carmel now needed
help.
In 2014, today’s Mt. Carmel
is serving the community once again!
Our dedicated staff of 27 and over 50
volunteers service the entire county with
integrated healthcare, wellness programs
and community enrichment programs!
In just two and a half years
our integrated healthcare clinic is
trending toward 15,000 patient visits. By
integrating medical and behavior services
along with wellness and enrichment
programs, the whole person is treated
physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Mt. Carmel is also pioneering
an holistic approach to wellness and
focusing on five key areas; 1) Nutrition
and Exercise, 2) Behavioral Health,
3) Community Wellness 4) Community
Outreach and Spirituality.

Mt. Carmel also offers many special
meeting rooms designed to host large
and small groups. Plus every event is
enhanced by the unique creations of our
very own Primero Cafe and Catering.
This year, under the leadership
of Col. (R) Bob McLaughlin, former
Fort Carson Garrison Commander, we’re
growing again! This time in Colorado
Springs…with our Center for Excellence.
Our mission for the Mt. Carmel
“Center of Excellence” is to provide
wellness programs and transitional
services with special emphasis on
veterans, military and their families. In
addition Mt. Carmel will deliver space,
expertise, and resources in collaboration
with community partners.
