The images, captured exclu-
sively between 10pm and 4am,
document the radical transfor-
mation of local communities in
the wake of the storm, rather
than the “iconic” images of de-
struction that appeared on the
national news, said Burkitt.
“Growing up where I did, I
never appreciated the quality
and the character of the struc-
tures where we lived. Within 48
hours, it was gone,” said Burkitt,
a Manasquan native. “I’m hop-
ing this exhibit will help people
remember what it was like five
years ago, and to appreciate
both the power of nature and
the beauty of the world around
them. It can all change so quick-
ly, and for many people, it will
never be the same again.”
An opening reception will
be held at 5:30p.m. on Friday,
Oct. 20 at the CVA Gallery, 765
Newman Springs Road, Lincroft.
It is free and open to all. w
