On Nov. 18 for the first-time ever,
Langosta Lounge and the adja-
cent Asbury Park Yacht Club will
collaborate on the same show:
Makin Waves Roots Fest, featur-
ing six of New Jersey’s best bands.
Lowlight, Coach N’ Commando,
and Jeff Linden and the Black
Spot Society will take the APYC
stage, while Accidental Seabirds,
Jackson Pines, and The Porchistas
will share the stage at Langosta
Lounge.
Admission to the Roots Fest
is free, but a tricky tray of great
sponsor prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and
other funds raised, will help offset
the cost of Food for Thought’s an-
nual Thanksgiving and Christmas
dinners for the homeless and hun-
gry at Langosta Lounge. Sponsor
prizes include a print of the paint-
ing Maryland-based artist Mar-
cia Furman donated to the event
poster and page, four free admis-
sions to the Silverball Museum
Arcade on the Asbury boardwalk,
NJ STAGE 2017 - Issue 40
a beer stein full of gift certificates
and T-shirts from Asbury Festhalle
& Biergarten, a gift basket from
the Brew TEA Spot, and two pairs
of tickets to the Makin Waves 30th
Anniversary Party on March 31 at
The Stone Pony.
One of the highlights of the show
will be the chance for the good
friends in the Seabirds, Jackson
Pines and Porchistas to band to-
gether for another worthy cause.
Friends for nearly a decade, Jesse
Lee Herdman and Al Letizia of Ac-
cidental Seabirds, Joe Makoviecki
of Jackson Pines and formerly
Thomas Wesley Stern, and Alan
“Sucia” Smith of The Porchistas
chatted about their music, the mu-
sic scene, their upcoming show
together and more in the follow-
ing interview.
How did the three of you be-
come friends and what part did
Asbury Park play in that?
Jesse: Yeah, it definitely feels like
