genius, though the movie por-
trays him as the worst screen de-
tective since Inspector Clouseau.
Harry’s latest case sees him
teaming up with a rookie, Ka-
trine (Rebecca Ferguson), a miss-
ing persons specialist, to inves-
tigate a serial killer who bumps
off women who happen to be
mothers, leaving a (not remotely
scary) snowman at the scenes of
his crimes.
Nesbo has written and sold an
awful lot of books, so I’m forced
to assume his version of The
Snowman boasts coherent plot-
ting and characters who behave
like human beings. For some bi-
zarre reason, that’s not remotely
what we get with this screen
adaptation.
The plot is riddled with more
holes than a block of Jarlsberg
cheese, with the killer turning up
to murder characters in locations
he couldn’t possibly have known
they could be found at, and Hole
failing to notice the most blatant
