sounds throughout the record, is
exemplary, her inconsistent ap-
proach to singing and songwrit-
ing on much of “Euphoria Love”
makes it an uneven affair. Pro-
ducer Kurt Reil of label mates The
Grip Weeds should have gone for
better takes on “Overflowing Mag-
ic,” “Leaving for New York City,”
“Dreaming in Blue,” and “Some-
where in Time,” as well as the title
track on which Richard stumbles.
Hokey and maudlin compared to
the fun edge of the rest of the re-
cord, these tracks either should
have been reworked or left off to
make for a stellar EP.
Perhaps “Euphoria Love” trans-
lates better live. Brenyama also
can be seen May 27 at The Brigh-
ton Bar, Long Branch, and June 4
at Championship Bar, Trenton.

wick Basement / April 14
I am looking forward to the City
of New Brunswick trying to bring
“legitimate” all-ages venues to the
town that has produced more na-
tional acts than Asbury Park and
Hoboken combined. Many, such
as Bouncing Souls, Lifetime, Dead-
guy, Thursday, Midtown, The Ergs!,
Gaslight Anthem, and Screaming
Females, came out of the city’s in-
ternationally influential basement
scene, long the alternative to a
lack of all-ages venues and now,
sadly, a lack of ANY consistent rock
venues.
Only one station plays thousands of
artists from New Jersey...
alongside the best artists from
around the globe.
