Click , click , click — it was the padlock that cinched together the doors of the 300-lb wall locker . The padlock was unlocking itself .
The back of my neck tingled . It was my hair puffed on end with primordial feelings of fear . This couldn ’ t be happening .
But what next unfolded spooked me even more . The newly unlocked padlock unhooked itself and flew across the room . It kapowed against the cement wall on the other side , strong as mortar fire .
