The Art of Healthy Living : A Mind Body Approach to Inner Balance and Natural Vitality is a nice slender paperback book so it doesn ’ t intimidate people , and you can just carry it in your purse , your bag , or whatever .
The author is Dr . Homayoun Sadeghi , medical doctor , and in this book he shares gems from this doctor ’ s personal experience as a physician , and insights that he originally jotted down in his personal journals . He kept these journals because occasionally things would come up that just riveted his attention and reminded him of magic . Now he doesn ’ t use the word magic , but to me it really is magic the way that our bodies can heal , and it really does happen in a mind body approach . It ’ s something where our thoughts can totally affect and influence our well-being .
What I also love about his book is that it invites us to join his journey . One of the central concepts of the book is that our mind is the main perpetrator behind disease , morbidity , and mortality . Something he says in the book is , “ Consciously or not , by focusing on things that cause discomfort and disease , we can actually manifest the physical characteristics that are in line with those realities .” Now that sounds a bit dark , but he quickly adds , “ Naturally , the reverse can also hold true ,” and that gets to the heart of why this is such a gem of a book , because it ’ s all about how we envision ourselves to be ; how we can dream of ourselves and our futures
