The Lord said: “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends.” (John 15:12,13)
Every military man and woman in this country signs, as it were, a blank
check to the United States of America. The agreement states that in their
defense of the Constitution, they may be required to give their own life in
order to preserve it.
Though any person would fear this prospect, the highest motivation of the
true soldier is pure, from the desire to protect all that is good in this country.

They stand at the rim of gold, the boundary of all that is good in us, and
at the border of heaven. Many have been called to cross over it. It is these
especially, whom we remember with prayers and gratitude on Memorial Day.
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He
