 ,    And so, in the last moments of His life in this world, the Lord owed Mary a debt of gratitude. At the moment of letting go, He remembered the bond that had tied Him and this woman through all the years of His life. In that moment He looked to her wellbeing. Addressing the beloved disciple, He said, “Behold thy mother.” The inference is that John the disciple would care for Mary in her remaining years, as it says, “at that hour that disciple took her into his own home.” (John 19:27) So we come back to the complexity of motherhood.
