to transcend the anxiety of others and see hard times as an opportunity for
growth, that strength, though never attacking, has the ability to “conquer all.”

about the speaker
The Rev. Eric H. Carswell has been pastor of the Pittsburgh and
Glenview societies and head of their schools, Dean of the Bryn Athyn
College Theological School, and regional pastor of the Northeastern
United States. On June 30 he left his job as Vice Chancellor of the
Academy of the New Church and Bishop’s Representative for Education
in the Academy and General Church Schools to become pastor of the
Bryn Athyn congregation. In addition to his Master’s of Divinity degree
from the Theological School, he has a B.A. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State
University and a Ma ster’s Degree in Education from Lehigh University. He and his wife,
Donna (Zeitz), have five grown children and two grandchildren. They live in Huntingdon
