But as we become the Lord’s disciples we can understand the plain teaching within the parables, and are more able to benefit from hearing “plainly about the Father.” Not that the value of stories is diminished, but that we learn in a variety of ways. And with such parables he spoke the Word to them as they were ableto hear it. But without a parable He did not speak to them. And whenthey were alone, he explained all things to His disciples.
