        We know we have the theological teachings about the complementary nature of the sexes. Now we have the brain-based research to back up what we have always known. Executive Director came back in October and presented our official plaque, which hangs in the Benade Hall foyer. We are very, very proud of this certification. There are 2,000 Gurian Model Schools world-wide but only two in Philadelphia. One is the Academy of the New Church; the other is a Title One public school in West Philadelphia. This, however, is not the end of the story. Now the work begins. This past August our two Girls School trainers spent a day with the faculty and staff at the Bryn Athyn Church School, providing professional development on Gurian techniques and strategies. It was a success. Within several days our trainers had been asked to train faculty and staff for the Washington and Kempton New Church Schools. They came together for a day of training at the Academy, which was very well received. During this workshop we had both our Girls School and Boys School trainers involved, and it was truly wonderful to get both men’s and women’s perspectives on how boys and girls think and do things differently. As the work begins in earnest, we need to get the word out that we are a Gurian model school and what that means. We are planning two events early in 2014. We will host an open house for consultants and Heads of Schools in our outlying community. We want them t
