1 Me , my time and the beast of nationalism
Dear Yanis ,
I would never have expected me to be writing a letter to you in all my life . Yet my way seems to cross yours now through the DIEM25 initiative . I am a historian and nearly more than a decade older than you , - two reasons , may be , for observing matters from a different perspective . Of course I have studied “ The Manifesto ” and the other DIEM documents and papers as well as “ A Modest Proposal ” and your “ And The Weak Suffer What They Must ?” I have closely watched your internet videos just to get to know you as an excellent , persuasive and charismatic speaker and debater . However , especially for such a case life has taught me to be more on guard than usual . All this left me in a state of inner turmoil - with analytical considerations conflicting with lessons learned , forgotten frustrations coming up again , demanding for resistance and deliberate opposition - despite my Age of 69 or rather because of it .
