Opportunities made possible by the Internet have made VoIP a musthave means of communication
VoIP is hardly new : early versions started to sprout in the mid ‘ 90s , and despite growing exponentially in its early years thanks to Skype and other consumer platforms , VoIP services have long been associated with spotty quality . Calls were traditionally not regarded as reliable because they could drop at a moment ’ s notice thanks to slow Internet speed , low connection quality or issues with the VoIP client itself . Thankfully these teething problems have been overcome , and then some . And it ’ s of course not only the general consumer embracing VoIP . Great strides have been made for it to become a corporate must-have too .
VoIP is now expected to grow to a value of $ 82.7billion by 2017 , according to WhichVoIP . An unprecedented growth forecast for unified communications ( UC ) combined with advancements in technology make VoIP packages an easy buy-in for any business decision maker . With better quality and more reliable services in addition to offering significant financial savings to organisations , we can expect VoIP to become a staple across countless industries .
