The data centre industry has changed dramatically in recent years with the growth of cloud computing and hybrid solutions . Whereas at one time , an organisation ’ s computing needs may have been accommodated by its own internal data centre assets , it ’ s now more usual for organisations of all sizes to avail services from a variety of physical locations such as large centralised facilities , cloud services provided by web giants , and not forgetting edge data centres .
Edge solutions have been rapidly growing to provide on-site low latency and mission critical applications , complementing the lower bandwidth services provided via cloud or co-location facilities .
