Tackling the data challenges ahead
As we approach the end of the year issues affecting the data centre industry promise an exciting future , and indeed many challenges ahead . In this issue we ’ ll be looking at the Internet of Things and converged infrastructures among many other hot topics – perfect examples of what ’ s in store , both for the consumer and data centre managers .
As the way we interact with technology evolves and demands on data centres increase , there are still swathes of the country at the mercy of no mobile connection , let alone 4G or fast broadband . The chancellor Phillip Hammond has announced an investment of £ 1bn in digital infrastructure , with a rise in R & D spending to boost innovation . While this is indeed welcome , is it too little too late or the remedy we ’ ve been waiting for ?
