Leviton has completed integration of Brand-Rex

Brand-Rex , a subsidiary of Leviton will change its name to Leviton . A manufacturer of network cable infrastructure for Europe , the Middle East and Asia , Brand-Rex has been a part of the Leviton Network Solutions division since it was acquired in 2015 . With the full integration of the organisation , products , and strategic direction , this change provides customers with a more seamless message and experience .
“ Both Leviton and Brand-Rex are recognised leaders in fibre and copper network infrastructure , and now we are one business and one brand with global capabilities ,” said Ross Goldman , Executive Vice President and General Manager of Leviton Network Solutions . “ This integration allows us to provide a more consistent customer experience . As an example , Leviton ’ s popular eXtreme , Atlas-X1 , QuickPort , HDX and e2XHD products are now in stock and available throughout Europe .” n
Ericsson has finalised 5G-readiness for operators by enhancing its 5G Platform with new solutions for the radio and core network . The company has launched 5G Radio Access Network ( RAN ) commercial software , based on the recently approved first 3GPP 5G New Radio ( NR ) standard . It also introduces a new category of radio products called Street Macro – a new site type that addresses the need of operators to grow in cities with limited available radio locations .
To capture growth opportunities presented by new 5G use cases , Ericsson expands its 5G Core System offering with new capabilities to support 5G NR and also enhances its Distributed Cloud solution . Ericsson introduced its 5G Platform in February 2017 with additions made in September the same year . It comprises the 5G core , radio , and transport portfolios together with OSS / BSS , network services and security .
Fredrik Jejdling , Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Networks at Ericsson , said : “ Operators who want to be early with 5G now have the essential pieces for launching 5G networks already this year . With our expanded platform , they will get more efficient networks as well as opportunities to create new revenues from emerging consumer and industrial use cases .” n

SolarWinds network path analysis with the free Traceroute NG tool

SolarWinds has unveiled SolarWinds Traceroute NG – a free network diagnostic tool that effectively maps hopby-hop performance across modern , hybrid networks and through firewalls . The new free tool enables IT professionals and network administrators to monitor performance and pinpoint bottlenecks rapidly across networks connecting critical services and applications , whether these resources are running on-premises or in the cloud .
With the new Traceroute NG , SolarWinds is offering a free replacement for this popular , but obsolete tool . The company leveraged its cutting-edge NetPath technology to deliver next-generation diagnostics that are fully functional for use with modern networks and security architectures .
Traceroute NG will empower customers to troubleshoot network issues more effectively with data that shows accurate path information . It simulates real application traffic to map paths across networks and through firewalls , delivering results in seconds and showing a live view of changes in latency and packet loss when network routes change . n

World ’ s fastest speeds achieved on the Telstra transmission network

Telstra , Ericsson , and Ciena have successfully demonstrated 400Gbps speeds over 61.5 GHz spectrum on Telstra ’ s transmission network in Melbourne . This demonstrates the highest spectral efficiency per fibre pair ever achieved in a live environment and enables up to 30.4 Tbps bandwidth on Telstra ’ s transmission network in Melbourne .
This technology will be introduced as part of the upgrade Telstra is completing across its long haul , metro and regional optical network under the Networks for the Future program to deliver increased capacity , enhanced resiliency and fully programmable capabilities .
The achievement enables up to 30.4 Tbps per fibre pair – which is the equivalent to 1.2 million 4K Ultra HD videos being streamed simultaneously – the most capacity ever achieved , with the previous highest on record being 25.6 Tbps . It is made possible through the deployment of software programmable 400Gbps wavelengths using Ciena ’ s WaveLogic Ai modem technology on the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform , in combination with Ciena ’ s Blue Planet Manage Control Plan ( MCP ) and Liquid Spectrum applications .
This achievement will lay the foundation for Telstra ’ s Networks for the Future program delivering efficiency , scalability and programmability to the network to meet future demands . n
