UPS Tomorrow’s Power, Today NCN caught up with Leo Craig, general manager at Riello UPS, to find out more about the company’s latest offering and its commitment to customer service. E xperienced GM, Leo Craig, with the company for over 20 years, was on hand at the recent IP Expo show in London, to give NCN the full story on the company’s progress. Leo was clearly pleased with the response to the new offerings, as Riello UPS was showcasing its Next Energy and Sentinel Dual solutions both of which are for use in mission critical applications. Riello says its Next Energy UPS device is designed to meet the power requirements of tomorrow, offering high efficiency of up to 97% and low running costs. The system is equipped with a seven-inch interactive touch screen providing UPS information, measurements, voltage and current waveforms. The system also boasts transformerless double conversion technology at VFI SS 111 classification, integrated IGBT three- level design and an in-built energy control system, all as standard. The maker adds that the components included help to guarantee first-class performance such as unity power factor (kW/ kVA) and support the capability to supply capacitive loads, as well as easy system upgrading, making it a strong ideal solution for business continuity. The Next Energy works to not only prevent disturbances on the mains, but also to clean the power supply.   The other product launching at the event was the Sentinel Dual, a range which is designed for maximum power reliability and is suitable for many different applications, from IT to security and is available in 5-6-8-10 kVA/kW models. With a digital display and a user-replaceable battery set, the Sentinel Dual can be installed as tower (floor standing) or rack, well suited for network and ser ver rack applications. 32 | October 2017 Leo was delighted with the response at the IP Expo for the new products The Sentinel Dual is ready to stand guard The range is available with on- line double conversion technology, meaning the load is powered continuously. In addition, up to three systems can be operated in parallel offering increased reliability and per formance. Leo explained, “With this launch, we’re marking our commitment to developing our UPS offering to meet the ever- evolving requirements of the data centre of tomorrow with flexible and forward-thinking solutions. We’ve already had some great feedback from visitors to our stand and we’re looking forward to continuing those conversations over the duration of the show.” Leo explained to NCN that the company has worked hard to keep up with the changes in the UPS channel recognising that requirements have altered as companies migrate to the cloud and often need a more flexible approach. “We just do UPS”, said Leo, “It’s our one and only focus, still privately owned, the company puts all its efforts into making sure we have the right solutions for the market rather than focusing on shareholders and our new introductions really reflect that focus. “Our structure also means that we are dynamic, we can move fast, taking our own expertise as well as customer feedback and feeding that into R&D. All the new products are ready to ship and what has been really positive at the event is that customers have been coming on and placing orders right there and then.” The company is clearly very focused on its customer relationships. Leo enthused, “Customer feedback and connection is absolutely key with us, not just for RnD, but we believe in real person to person customer service. We don’t have voicemail, our phone system has four options, then you are through to a human being who will attend to your needs. “There is of course a place for on-line interaction when that is best for both parties, we have our Riello Hub for resellers with loads of useful resources on there, but you have to get the balance right, it’s my firm belief that this is why we have grown our market share, because we have done just that.” The company is also keen to avoid taking business for granted. Leo added: “With end user companies we don’t auto restart support packages and contracts, we pick up the phone and make sure each customer is happy with what they are receiving and if we need to change anything before renewing. “Also, our four-hour call out service does not mean someone will get back to you in four hours, it means we will have someone on-site in four hours.” In terms of maintenance and support plans different options are provided, Silver, with a 12 working hour response, Gold with eight and Platinum, same day within four clock hours.
