ESSENTIAL SELECTION

Bright idea

Rittal is launching a new generation of lights designed specifically for enclosures . The range sets new standards for energy and high performance using LED technology which will deliver up to 1,200 lumens , and for easy installation , there are simple connection and mounting options .
Lighting is an area that is often neglected in the design of enclosures and yet it plays a vital role in helping with installation and maintenance . The ability to easily identify different wire colours , for example , is clearly vital for both .
Two models of the new enclosure lights are being launched with luminous fluxes of 900 and 1200 lumens . They use LEDs which provide outstanding energy efficiency and have a much longer lifetime than other light sources . Their transparent plastic lens with integrated Fresnel lenses focus the light in such a way that the entire enclosure is illuminated , even down at the bottom . It means the light can be targeted towards areas where it is needed – without being scattered into the exterior . If required , the system can also daisy-chain up to 15 lights from a single power source .
There are a range of options for turning the lights on and off – by an integrated switch , a door switch or a motion detector . For further information visit : www . rittal . co . uk

Gain without pain

Xirrus has announced the launch of Wi-Fi Inspector 2.0 , a free downloadable application that quickly and easily provides visibility into Wi-Fi networks .
Wi-Fi Inspector 2.0 , available now to users on devices running Windows or Mac OS , supports the latest 802.11ac Wave 1 and Wave 2 standards . The tool provides both IT and end users a painless way to manage and troubleshoot Wi-Fi networks . Users can search for Wi-Fi networks , troubleshoot connections , verify Wi-Fi coverage , detect rogue access points ( APs ) and more .
Wi-Fi Inspector 1.0 reached over one million downloads , rapidly becoming the standard for organisations across the globe to quickly and easily gain visibility into their networks . After experiencing momentous traction , Xirrus developed Wi-Fi Inspector 2.0 to enhance its feature set and broaden its user base . For further information visit : www . xirrus . com

At the double

LMS Data provides quality and cost effective wall enclosures for many types of installations . Listening to its customer base , LMS Data has now extended its wall enclosure family to include double section wall enclosures , available in 9U , 12U , 15U and 18U heights .
The double section means installers and integrators now have a simpler installation procedure for both passive and active products with easy access to the rear of the products for punching down patch panels or providing power to networking devices . Standard depth of the fixed wall section is 100mm and a generous hinged section of 450mm allows deep managed switches to be installed , giving a total depth of 550mm .
Available direct from LMS Data distributors , all models feature removable side panels and venting slots , coupled with an easy to mount wall design . For further information visit : www . lmsdata . com

Bow selecta

Siemon has announced the launch of its new LightBow fibre termination system that continues to improve fibre termination speed , performance and reliability whilst reducing costs .
Part of Siemon ’ s LightHouse advanced fibre optic cabling solutions , the new system features an exclusive patent-pending termination tool and pre-polished mechanical splice connectors that together reduce termination time , prevent fibre end face contamination and air gaps , and enable easy verification of termination quality .
Ergonomically optimised for use in hand held or table-top orientation , the new LightBow termination tool significantly reduces termination time by combining both splice activation and crimping in a single , optimised step and providing universal LC and SC connector compatibility with no time consuming changeover . It also features integrated LC and SC strip templates moulded right into the tool to ensure proper strip length of the fibre . To enhance connector performance , the tool ’ s alignment channels simplify fibre insertion , whilst its patent-pending bow feature maintains proper pressure of fibre ends during termination to eliminate air gaps . To further ensure reliability , the entire termination process is completed with the connector dust-cap in place , protecting the critical end face polish from contamination or damage .
