ESSENTIAL SELECTION
Core of the matter
Emerson Network Power has expanded its Trinergy Cube and Liebert 80-eXL product
platforms, following extensive research with key customers at Emerson Network
Power’s Customer Experience Centres.
The Trinergy Cube uninterruptible power supply (UPS), which has so far
been distinguished for its modular, highly flexible power cores and 98.5 per cent
operational efficiency, now boasts further capabilities, including 200kW and 400kW
power cores for an increased capacity. The Liebert 80-eXL product family will see its
range more than double over the next few months, and with the introduction of the
1,200kW rating this will become the first transformer-free monolithic UPS to provide
up to 9.6MW of power in a parallel system.
These innovations are partly the result of a deeper customer understanding
gained at the Customer Experience Centres. These provide customers, consultants
and data centre specialists with a witness testing area to experience the capabilities
of Emerson Network Power technologies at peak conditions. So far Emerson
Network Power has
inaugurated four centres in
less than two years across
the globe, highlighting the
company’s commitment
to working closely with
customers to address the
increasingly complex nature
of critical infrastructures.

Quick smart
D-Link has expanded its family of smart switches
with the launch of the 10-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet
Smart Switch (DXS-1100-10TS). The switch is an easy
to manage and install option to increase network
bandwidth for small and medium businesses (SMBs)
in a fast growing demanding network.
D-Link’s Smart Switch range provides a simple
solution for business networks, with intuitive and
flexible network management. Intelligent features
enable the automation of traffic prioritisation and
bandwidth management, and for issues on the
network to be instantly remedied. Many SMBs today
are faced with more bottlenecks and increasing
demands on the network. The 10-Port 10 Gigabit
Ethernet Smart Switch provides the benefits of
10Gb connectivity and better network performance
through a simple upgrade to the network.
The DXS-1100-10TS can also be used as an
effective option for the edge of the network,
offering 10Gb connectivity to the core. Deploying
connectivity to servers, storage and network
devices by using existing Category 6 cabling, the
switch offers further return on investment as well
as a simpler installation process. It also offers
improved power efficiency through D-Link Green
technology. The Smart fans run at optimum speed
to cool the system, reducing when not needed to
save energy. Inactive ports are also powered down
when not in use.

Chatsworth Products (CPI) has released its new EF-Series
EuroFrame Cabinet, an innovative and cost effective
network equipment cabinet, designed to offer a quick
and easy to install storage solution for European data
centre managers.
The rapid growth of the European data centre market
has spurred desire for improvements in switch and server
protection inside cabinets in traditional and colocation
data centres. Additionally, customers want to improve data
centre aesthetics, all while on a restricted budget.
The EuroFrame Cabinet features a static load rating of
1,500kg to meet today’s data centre requirements for high
density switching and server applications. The cabinet is
available in several standard configurations, including 42
rack mount units (U) and 47U, 600mm and 800mm widths
and 1,000mm and 1,200mm depths, to allow flexibility to fit
most data centre designs.
Key features include:
Allows for scalability and network upgrades.
Manages and protects cabling and equipment in a simple,
affordable way.
Provides open rack accessibility with security of the cabinet.
Delivers thermal management to ensure uptime.

Plus points
Belden has introduced the latest addition to the Octopus family from Hirschmann – the
Octopus OS24/34 switch. With new Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) functionalities, system
engineers no longer need additional cabling to supply power to end devices, and can
connect devices directly to the switch.
The open ordering system allows for tailor made PoE+ switches to meet specific
application requirements, giving customers options for fibre or copper ports, port counts
up to 28 and power supply for multiple input voltage ranges, from 24 to 110 Volt Di
