Network infrastructure
providers collaborate
to accelerate no-
compromise AV/IT
convergence
The SDVoE Alliance has highlighted the
contributions of member companies
Netgear, Panduit and Cleerline Technology
Group in providing the secure, scalable
and reliable network infrastructure
needed for true AV/IT convergence.
Justin Kennington, president of
the SDVoE Alliance, said: ‘To truly
converge IT and AV networks, you
need 10G infrastructure – it’s here and
it’s affordable at under $80 per port,
compared to up to $1,000 per port for
HDBaseT.
‘Using SDVoE technology on a 10G
network, 4K video can be transmitted
without compression, leaving more than
1 gigabit per second for data network
users. On top of that, no compression
means no latency and no compromise
of image quality. SDVoE technology
delivers per formance equal to that of
a matrix switch, but the organisation
is left with only one infrastructure to
maintain and manage.’
Charles Dobson, director of
development for the SDVoE Alliance,
added: ‘SDVoE Alliance members bring
different perspectives to the SDVoE
initiative spanning the entire AV/
IT ecosystem and when it comes to
infrastructure, Netgear, Panduit and
Cleerline contribute essential expertise.
‘Netgear provides switches and
storage, Panduit offers end-to-end network
infrastructure solutions, and Cleerline
supplies easy-to-deploy fibre connectivity.’

Updata secures Health and Social Care
Network supplier compliance
Updata, part of Capita plc, has been named as one
of the first compliant suppliers of the new Health
and Social Care Network (HSCN) by NHS Digital.
HSCN, which has replaced the old NHS network
N3, is designed to provide more flexible, highly robust
network connectivity to the NHS and health and social care organisations around
the country, as well as giving organisations a choice over their network supplier.
Updata, which has experience in delivering a large scale PSN network through
the Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN) and other large regional networks in
England and Wales, is one of the first five providers to secure Stage 1 compliance
as a Consumer Network Service Provider (CN-SP) for the new network.
Beatrice Butsana-Sita, managing director of Capita Networking Solutions, said:
‘Updata has been at the vanguard of preparations for the end of N3 and the move
to HSCN, and we are very proud to be among the very first accredited suppliers.
‘HSCN has the power to transform connectivity throughout the NHS, and
ensure NHS organisations of all sizes have connectivity which is fit for purpose,
secure, meets their individual needs and helps improve patient outcomes.’
Ms Butsana-Sita added: ‘In order to make the absolute most of this opportunity
to secure better connectivity while reducing costs, NHS organisations must start
engaging with suppliers now to get the best possible solution for their requirements.’

Nexans launches its new business unit
Nexans Data Centre Solutions, the new global business unit launched by Nexans
is designed to support global hyperscale data centres with physical layer
connectivity services and solutions in the hyper-connected world of tomorrow.
Steven Vermeulen, Nexans’ executive vice president, Americas, said: ‘By 2020,
there will be over 20 billion connected things in the world, generating over 3bn
terabytes of data traffic. To better understand the scale of the challenge, the
amount of predicted data flow per year will be equal to 108 million years of high-
definition video.
‘To help hyperscale data centre operators drive the four th industrial
revolution and keep up with new technologies that are fusing physical, digital
and biological dimensions, Nexans launches its new business unit Nexans Data
Center Solutions (NDS) that will provide them with scalable and resilient cables
& connectivity products.’
With nine data communications manufacturing units and warehouses
worldwide, NDS will offer Nexans’ clients a complete portfolio of physical layer
infrastructure products: From data cabling, connectivity and pre-terminated
assemblies, to transceivers and fibre containment systems.
Mr Vermeulen added: ‘We decided to launch Nexans Data Centre Solutions
to extend this expertise to hyperscale data centre operators worldwide and help
them pilot, industrialise and roll out new digital approaches with the latest high-
end physical layer infrastructure products.’
