Crestron unveils ‘virtual switcher’
Crestron has released the DM XiO Director, an enterprise-grade network appliance,
which serves as a centralised “virtual switcher,” facilitating configuration, control, and
management of large scale DM NVX Series AV networks.
DM NVX Series is the industry’s only secure solution that delivers 4K60, 4:4:4, and
HDR video over standard 1GB Ethernet.
Steve Samson, executive director, business development at Crestron, says: ‘The
DM XiO Director brings the DM NVX Series to life, delivering on the promise of unlimited
network AV scalability and flexibility. It makes it incredibly simple to manage large
matrices of DM NVX endpoints over a standard IP network.’
Crestron says the DM XiO Director vir tually emulates the functionality of a
traditional hardware-based DigitalMedia matrix switcher, routing 4K60 streaming AV
signals throughout a room, building, or campus. Three models are offered which suppor t
80 (DM-XIO-DIR-80),
160 (DM-XIO-DIR-160), or
unlimited (DM-XIO-DIR-
ENT) endpoint devices.
Mr Samson adds: ‘DM
XiO Director can handle
even the largest corporate
enterprise, university,
governmental, military,
medical, transportation,
sports, entertainment,
hospitality, gaming, or
retail application.’

Atlona launches first HDMI/USB-C
wall plate switcher for HDBaseT AV systems
Atlona has introduced its new AT-HDVS-210U-TX-WP 2x1 wall
plate switcher and HDBaseT transmitter.
The AV industry’s only HDBaseT switcher/transmitter
with both USB-C input support, the AT-HDVS-210U-TX-
WP – which also supports HDMI connectivity – provides
direct compatibility with new and emerging laptops, tablets,
and smartphones that have AV-capable USB-C ports. This
eliminates the need for cumbersome and easy-to-lose USB-C
adapters, and helps users quickly go live with presentations,
lectures and other speaking events, Atlona says.
The AT-HDVS-210U-TX-WP enables video up to 4K/UHD at
60Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling to be transmitted over
328 feet (100 metres) via easy-to-integrate category cable
alongside embedded audio, control and Ethernet signals. The
unit features one HDMI and one USB-C input, with HDCP 2.2
compliance permitting the transport of protected content.
Auto-switching and integrated display control
automatically select between the two inputs and power up the display when a laptop
or presentation device is connected, enabling effortless, automated operation. Input
selection, audio volume and display power can also be controlled via RS-232 or TCP/IP
commands, enabling easy integration with third-party control systems.
Steve Kolta, Atlona’s product manager, says: ‘The AT-HDVS-210U-TX-WP combines
USB-C support with many popular integration and user convenience features, delivering
excellent value for AV applications and customers large and small.
‘Its flexible input connectivity and automated ease of use are ideal for addressing the
growing BYOD trend across all types of enterprises and institutions, while its Ethernet-
enabled HDBaseT output and extensive network based control capabilities provide the
tools that systems integrators need.’
