ESSENTIAL SELECTION
Air superiority
Netscout Systems has launched the
next generation of the AirCheck
hand held wireless tester. This tool is
available through Netscout’s recently
launched Connect360 global channel
partner program, and includes
important new enhancements, such as
troubleshooting and diagnosing Wi-Fi
networks built using the increasingly
adopted 802.11ac standard, access
point backhaul testing, and free access
to the Link-Live Cloud dashboard for
more effective results management.
The Netscout AirCheck G2 wireless
tester is a powerful tool designed
to enable frontline IT to quickly and
easily identify issues responsible for
spotty connections, dead zones, and
slow speeds, as well as locating rogue
access points and unauthorised devices.
This functionality is ideal to support
installation and troubleshooting of
IoT wireless edge infrastructure for
applications, such as the testing of the
wireless infrastructure that supports
patient monitoring for healthcare,
industrial IoT, personalised and
immersive experiences for retail, smart
buildings and smart homes.
This easy to use hand held tester
provides technicians with a broader range
of detailed insights into the wireless
network than is currently available
using freeware applications or other
commercially available software packages.

Wide ranging
Brand-Rex is set to launch a new 100/128 Gigabit/s wideband multimode fibre solution for data centres,
requiring only two fibres per link compared to current 20 fibre and eight fibre solutions. The new product
set includes fibre cable and patch cords and is fully integrated into the Brand-Rex Hi-Dex data centre
connectivity system.
By using Shortwave Wavelength Division Multiplexing (SWDM), four separate signals can be
aggregated (multiplexed) and transmitted concurrently over an 850nm to 950nm window. This is made
possible due to the maintained OM4 bandwidth performance of the new
Brand-Rex wideband multimode fibre solution over this wavelength range.
This makes the Brand-Rex wideband multimode fibre solution ideal
for future 100Gb/s Ethernet and 128Gb/s Fibre Channel applications,
maintaining industry preferred LC duplex connectivity. Furthermore, this
technology establishes a sensible building block from which 400Gb/s
speeds can be achieved using the MTP connectivity set.
Designed to be fully integrated with the revised Hi-Dex data centre
solution set, wideband multimode fibre will be a standard fibre option
for Brand-Rex tight buffered premises distribution and central loose tube
(Unitube) cable types.

Grey area
Schneider Electric has announced the introduction of its APC NetShelter SX ‘Grey Racks’
range. Light grey in colour, the durable powder coated finish is extended throughout
all surfaces of the enclosures, inside and out, to provide a much greater visual contrast
between the cabinet and the equipment it contains.
According to studies, human error continues to be a significant factor in IT outages
after power loss and equipment failures. Much of this is caused by equipment adds
or changes in racks, as well as devices under maintenance being installed incorrectly.
Improving the contrast between the lighter cabinet and IT equipment will help service
engineers and IT personnel to be able to carry out tasks more effectively and reliably.
The new Grey Racks range combines the feature-rich advantages of Schneider Electric’s
next generation APC NetShelter SX cabinets, making them ideal to meet market requirements
from high density computing and networking, to broadcast and audio visual applications.
APC NetShelter SX Grey Racks can be used in stand alone configuration, or together with
advanced cooling, power distribution and cable management for use in IT environments.
