venues from Solwise
Solwise has announced an addition to its Guest
Internet Solutions range. The R80 is a hotspot
gateway for large venues where there are high
amounts of users.
The R80 hotspot gateway provides any business
with all the features to transform a wireless access

login option to help improve social media presence.
The R80 can be installed with multiple wireless
access points to provide Wi-Fi Internet throughout
a large building and can also be used to connect
wired hotel rooms, where a switch must be added to

Professional grade surveillance comes
to small business and consumers
D-Link has launched
its new Vigilance Full
HD surveillance starter
kit (DNR1648022) for
small businesses and

to make their first
investment into video

Latest Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
cloud solution offer helps boost
adoption of cloud services
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has announced it is making it
easier for its Business Partners to help customers adopt enterprise
communications services in the cloud. OTEC, which is OpenTouch
Suite 2.2 offered via the cloud, delivers innovative consumption based
telephony, unified communications, contact centre and specialised
industry service applications. OTEC enables Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
Business Partners to promote apps and services to businesses either
considering or already embracing cloud communications services.
This latest release delivers enhancements which combine
innovation and flexibility, providing businesses with advanced
communications capabilities, create an improved user experience,
and make IT simpler to reduce the burden of network management
and maintenance.
Deployment of OTEC requires no upfront investment, with
OpenTouch software licenses available as a fully operational
expenditure (Opex) on a price per user, per month basis, so
customers pay only for services used. Additionally, an online
quotation tool is able to assess the infrastructure workload and
sizing required for the system.
EWE Group has found OTEC to ease the burden of network
management and maintenance whilst also delivering an improved
user experience for employees, as the new system promotes mobility
and easier remote connectivity.

Verify with VDV II for improved
troubleshooting and productivity
Ideal Networks has introduced a new cable verifier which helps network
installers to keep productivity high and operational costs low when it comes
to troubleshooting in voice, data and video cable installation. The VDV II is
also able to boost productivity by supporting up to 24 remotes.
Installers have been using LED cable verifiers or ‘blink boxes’ for years,
however with today’s more complex cable infrastructures, LCD
verifiers are now being implemented by the majority
of installers.
Unlike LED verifiers where the user must
decode a sequence of blinking lights to identify
the cabling fault, the display panel on an LCD
verifier has intuitive graphics to provide far more
comprehensive details on cabling faults, allowing
for faster repair.
To ensure that installers and technicians can
select the cable verifier which best suits their copper
cable testing needs, the series includes a choice of
three models, VDV II, VDV II Plus and VDV II Pro.
For fast, effective troubleshooting, improved on
site productivity and less disruption for customers,
VDV II Pro uses TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) to
obtain more accurate measurements more quickly,
whilst also offering inbuilt network detection.
